AMPLIFY CAMP
Amplify Camp was a short-term summer enrichment program implemented in 2022 through U.N.I.T.E. Education Foundation as part of its Health and Wellness Initiative, in partnership with the Limited Housing Authority. The camp was intentionally designed to re-engage children following periods of isolation by providing structured opportunities for physical activity, social interaction, mentorship, and academic support.
The program operated for three weeks and followed a consistent weekly schedule focused on movement, teamwork, and positive youth engagement. On Mondays and Wednesdays, UNITE partnered with Coach Taurean “Bird” Brown to deliver a three-on-three basketball skills and development camp from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., emphasizing fundamentals, sportsmanship, and confidence-building.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays, participants attended a high-energy dance and step class from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., led by Steppers With Attitude (SWA). These sessions promoted cardiovascular health, rhythm, coordination, and self-expression in a fun and engaging environment.
Amplify Camp served as a community-based strategy to encourage children to get out of the house, reconnect with peers, and engage in healthy, structured activities during the summer months. The program successfully blended physical fitness, social-emotional development, and mentorship, creating positive and memorable experiences for participating youth.
